Captain Sonny Perkins will be joining the rusty anchors on the next Boattalk Tuesday April 9 at 10am Eastern time. Â Sonny has worked around the world on various commercial vessels and has the stories to prove it. Â It will be an interesting show for sure. Â a.s.
If you are a data junkie or just want to know what the tides are, here’s an interesting website for ocean conditions for the greater Gulf of Maine.  www.neracoos.org  It has all sorts of windows to real-time data and informative reports.  Bouy, there’s a lot going on.  a.s.
Tuesday March 12th Boattalk streams live at www.weru.org at 10am EDT starting with a conversation with Phineas Sprague about the Maine Boatbuilder’s Show, which happens on March 15-17. Â Phineas sent the below picture as an example of the “Wall of Fame” they have there. Â It’s a great show with all sorts of things to see and talk about. Â Say hello to Boattalk buddy Havilah Hawkens while your there and ask him about the waterspout picture. Â We will also be talking with Greg Roscoe of Seaworthy Productions about a video about Raw Faith that will be coming out soon. Â And, as usual, it is a call-in show and you never know what might surface. Â a.s.
On our March 12 Boattalk we will be talking with Greg Roscoe of Seaworthy Productions who is putting the finishing touches on a video about Raw Faith which was built by the McKay family downeast to take handicapped children on sea adventures.  It is an interesting story with a sad ending and should be an entertaining discussion.  Tuesday March 12 at 10am Eastern time on WERU-fm 89.9 Blue Hill and 99.9 Bangor, also streaming on the web at www.weru.org  podcast will be available here and at weru.org a day or two after the broadcast.  Greg’s website is seaworthyproductions.com  Â
Well, we finally got around to it and made a facebook page for Boattalk. It’s an easy place to file all your complaints about past shows. Just look for Boattalk in the Facebook Homepage. a.s.
Boattalk, Tuesday Feb. 12 10am Eastern, will have David Moses Bridges, a Passamaquoddy canoe builder. He will be talking about his craft(s) and will be available to talk with listeners also, since Boattalk is a call-in show. You could say it will be a hearing on sound bark canoes…your dogs may want to join in also. Listen live to the stream at www.weru.org or on air at 89.9fm Blue Hill and 99.9fm Bangor. David is a very fine craftsman as you can see by the pictures below. If you would like to see his work first-hand, the Abbe Museum in Bar Harbor has one of his boats. a.s.
We will probably be talking with Jeff Gold again as he is helping with the restoration of the Whaleship Charles W. Morgan. He says they still have ten strakes to go. a.s.
Personally I don’t think I would even consider going around the world in anything less than a hundred feet. But thanks to Boattalk listener Tom, here is a link to a video of a Swede who is preparing to sail around the world in a ten foot boat. I expect we will be talking about this and other small ventures on the next Boattalk Tuesday Nov. 6 Don’t forget to vote. The link is right below in tom’s comment. A.S.
