The April Boattalk Tuesday the 9th 10-11 am, Jon Johansen will bring a friend of his, photo archivist at Penobscot Marine Museum, Kevin Johnson. Kevin, along with Earle Suttleworth and W. H. Bunting released a book in 2016 entitled “Maine on Glass” with many old photos of all kinds of Maine life. There is a challenge doing a radio show about photos, but I trust it won’t be a negative experience. Many pictures can be seen at the Penobscot Marine Museum website. penobscotmarinemuseum.org

I have been interested in the history of the Confederate submarine the Hunley. it was the first submarine to sink an enemy ship. It rammed an explosive on the end of a long spar into the USS Housatonic sinking it. The Hunley was lost after the attack and recovered in 2000. Nobody knew what caused the sub to be lost. Now it appears that the blast killed the crew also. Above is a link to a recent video with evidence for the claim. a.s.
